Buffalo Sabres bring Johnson up from Amerks

The Buffalo Sabres have made some roster moves, as they announced on Friday that defenseman Ryan Johnson has been recalled from the Rochester Americans. Earlier on Friday, Johnson was actually loaned to Rochester in order to clear space on Buffalo’s 23-man roster for forward Tage Thompson. Thompson, who was activated from the non-roster list, also practiced with the team.

To make room for Johnson’s return to the Buffalo roster, forward Tyson Jost cleared waivers on Friday afternoon and was subsequently loaned to Rochester.

Since being recalled from Rochester on November 4th, Johnson, who is 22 years old, has played in 20 games for the Sabres. During that time, he has recorded two assists, maintained a plus-3 rating, and has averaged 13:52 of ice time per game.

Looking ahead, the Sabres are set to host the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday at 5 p.m.
