Maudr and the Czech-Slovakia Sabres Fan Club’s Inaugural Trip to Buffalo with the Buffalo Sabres

Viktor Maudr reminisced about his early days as a fan while attending the game between the Buffalo Sabres and the Seattle Kraken at KeyBank Center. He recalled watching his older brother play NHL 99 on PC when he was just five years old. Despite not being allowed to join in, he frequently brought his brother food as an excuse to sit and watch the games. It was during these moments that he developed a fondness for the Sabres’ goathead jersey, which sparked his love for the team.

As Maudr’s knowledge of the players and the voice of the Sabres, Rick Jeanneret, grew, so did his passion for the team. Despite his limited English skills at the time, he often woke up at 1 a.m. on school nights just to listen to Jeanneret’s voice on the airwaves. This experience not only inspired him to pursue a broadcasting career but also motivated him to connect with other displaced Sabres fans in his area.

Subsequently, Maudr launched a Buffalo Sabres fan club page on Facebook to find fans in Czechia and Slovakia and unite them. This initiative was a result of his experience with Jeanneret’s calls and his dedication to following the team, illustrating his deep commitment to the Sabres and his desire to share that passion with others.
