Luukkonen embraces workload as Sabres’ top starter

Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen, the 24-year-old goaltender of the Buffalo Sabres, recently embraced the challenge of starting back-to-back nights this past weekend, which reflects his busy workload. He expressed his satisfaction with the trust and confidence shown by the coaching staff, emphasizing that back-to-back starts are not typical for a goalie but he was grateful for the opportunity.

Luukkonen has been the starting goalie for 19 of Buffalo’s last 21 games since January 11, and during this time, he has achieved a .928 save percentage, ranking third among NHL goaltenders with a minimum of four games played. Despite setting NHL career highs in starts (38) and games played (35), he still has 20 games remaining in the season.
