Alex Tuch, Rasmus Dahlin, and Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen have been named as finalists for the 2023-24 Rick Martin Memorial Award. This prestigious award, commonly referred to as “The Rico,” is presented annually to the player who best represents the spirit of being a Buffalo Sabre. Fans are encouraged to vote for the player they believe demonstrates exceptional on-ice performance, resilience, and dedication to the community. Voting will remain open until 11:59 p.m. on April 8, with the winner set to be announced on Fan Appreciation Night on April 11.

The award is sponsored by the Sabres’ Gold Ring Partners: KeyBank, Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield of Western New York, Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center, and LECOM. The Rick Martin Memorial Award was established during the 2020-21 season in honor of the late Sabres legend, who remained an active member of the community and a proud ambassador of the organization after his remarkable playing career until his passing in 2011. The dedication of Rick Martin is commemorated through this award. Now, let’s take a closer look at each of the finalists: Alex Tuch, Rasmus Dahlin, and Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen.
